Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding Officiant Gets Candid About Their Big Day

It seems like the entire world is excited about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, but there's one person that has a unique perspective, and that's the officiant.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has spoken out about the forthcoming royal wedding in a new interview with ITV News.

When it comes to the royal wedding, which will be broadcast live around the world, the Archbishop revealed, "Unlike recent weddings, I must not drop the ring, and I must not forget to get the vows in the right order as I did at the rehearsal for one of my children’s weddings!" Clearly, the nerves have started already.

As well as conducting their nuptials, Welby was also responsible for baptizing Markle into the Church of England. Of the ceremony, he told ITV News (via People), "It was very special. It was beautiful and sincere and very moving. It was a great privilege."

Welby spoke at length about Prince Harry's relationship with Markle, and the strong commitment the pair has for one another. He revealed, "You know, at the heart of it, is two people, who have fallen in love with each other, who are committing their lives to each other with the most beautiful words and profound thoughts, who do it in the presence of God."

The royal wedding is set to take place on May 19, 2018, at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. According to a spokesperson at Kensington Palace, Prince Harry and his fiancée "want the day to be shaped so as to allow members of the public to feel part of the celebrations too and are currently working through ideas for how this might be achieved."
